“Aksesori Seni Dawai” Book Launching Event

Book launching event for my sister’s first book “Aksesori Seni Dawai by Yati Salem” is just around the corner…this Sunday to be exact, so before it’s too late, I must update the details now. Those who wanna come, kami alu-alukan kedatangan anda. Saya takder in charge apa-apa for that day, but I’ll be there insyallah. Buat semak event orang and datang makan jer. lah. Huhu. Neway, my sis pakai my Nilam scarf, so I got to shoot her la on that day.

Picture credit to MPH Online You can purchase the book through my sister as well. But she only got few stocks at home.

A little bit about the book, it’s a first book wrote by my sister and published by Alaf 21 (Karangkraf. Group) Am not that sure how many pages the book has, but am 100% sure the book is fully colored with clear and large image for you to get a clear view on how to make the wire jewelry your own.

When I first browse through the book, I was like…whattttttt RM19.90 jer for this book? I was once involved in wire jewelry works too and I bought lotsss of expensive books wrote by foreigner crafters and e-book tutorials. Banyak giler sampai berat komputer nk simpan. But nothing as good as my sister’s book. Gambar2 sangat jelas and every and each step tu ditunjukkan dan dijelaskan ..dengan sejelas2 nya. Dannnn contoh yang ditunjukkan dalam buku ni, bukan contoh buat cincin kawen koboi lilit-lilit pintal-pintal jer ok. Contoh jewelry utk dibuat yg ada dalam buku my sister ni semua jewelry yg gempak-gempak, yang if you tengok sekali imbas, you tkkan boleh imagine how to make the rings, bangles and etc. without buying the book and follow the step. Tak perlu susah-susah, tengok jer gambar cincin kt kulit depan buku tu. Boleh tak agak2 macam mana nk buat cincin tu kalau tk beli buku tu? Hehe. Tak boleh bukan?

Dulu I pon buat wire jewelry, bila dah ada teknik asas, sometimes by just one look you can guess already technique required to make the particular jewelry. Guna soldering ker? Guna spiral ker? Guna weaving ker? As far as I know, my sister mmg tak guna solder, mmg jewelry made by my sis diikat dan dimatikan secara teknik putaran wire, yg mana tak semua org boleh buat. Sbb hujung wire agak tajam, kalau kene skin or baju mmg boleh berdarah or baju boleh koyak. So u got to be really good and expert to matikan the wire so that it won’t cut through your flesh or rosakkan baju raya anda :D Hihih.

I still remember masa I pon sama2 buat wire jewelry with my sis, we got to learn everything on our own. Even tools and supplies pon penat mencari. Because in Malaysia ini, wire jewelry belum betul2 ramai crafters nk buat or pandai buat.  Tk macam di luar negara, wire jewelry mmg dikira exclusive and sometimes harga utk satu jewelry lebih mahal dari jewelry di kedai emas (providing material use to make the wire jewelry is from fine materials, mcm pure gold and silver).

Tools mmg susah nk cari. My sister pon ada ajar kelas juga and I tengok semua tools yg diberi adalah yg ditempah khas dari kilang besi mmg takder jual dekat kedai-kedai. So, to those yang betul2 berminat nak belajar and turn this hobby into a profitable biz like my sis did (siap dah ada buku bagai), can join my sister punya class. I personally encourage you guys yg berminat dgn wire works ni to enrol for the class, sbb you will get tools and supplies. Tools yg lengkap yg cukup lengkap utk u start buat wire jewelry. Itu yg paling penting. I know how hard to find the correct tools. Trust me.

Class jewelry yg ada masa  kami start buat jewelry pon, was only for stringing (yg jahit manik guna tangsi). We don’t fancy that, sbb it’s pretty common, semua org dah pandai buat stringing, design that we can do with stringing it is pretty limited plus not as beautiful as wire jewelry.

So, if nk join, nnt can sign up for class on 16th January next year details as written on the digital brochure above. Or if nk bertemu secara dekat dgn my sister as author of the book boleh dapat autograph hahaha., kalau dia sibuk don’t worry  saya boleh sign kan kih kih..and also boleh tanya details about the class nnt (or kalau nk tengok scarf Nilam yg dipakai oleh my sis pon boleh—-sempat nih promote), can attend book launching event this weekend lah. Chocolate Lonia ada disediakan, tapi limited quantity yer :) Neway, chocolate tu bukan Lonia sponsor, tapi my sis yg order. Yer adik beradik pon kene bayar ok. Apa-apa pon iklan ini adalah tidak berbayar. Ehe.

In Need Of Nice, Cute & Cheap Lappie Bag

Sorry peeps for the messy look of this blog yesterday. Today, I think my blog is a bit better with the new header of course :) I would like to thank Khai a lottsssssss for being able to come out with the header design so fast. Hmm..do you guys heart the header? I love it so much. It gives me the feeling that as if I am reading a chic lit book from MPH book shelves. Ehe.

I am going to launch an affiliate program soon for Mr and Mrs Imran. This affiliate program is open to Malaysia and International readers. I need to get my gadget for the program such as blog banner and Narmi Jewelry e-voucher ready in order to start this program. I will announce it here soon. So, just stay tune ok. You may able to get the free e-voucher and redeem it to buy jewelries from me. :)

By the way, since I got a new Sony Vaio laptop (love.love.love it), I think I need to get a nice laptop bag as well. For instance, what do you think about these laptop bags from Abbi New York collection? The design is fresh and girlish. I like it. However, I don’t really like the price tho. Hoho. It cost about USD150 each which is about…kire cincai la about RM500++. Phewww. I think I will try to get it from ebay instead. Murah banyak beb.

Abbi New York latest creation that I heart fall under Erin collection. Oh, don’t you think this pink little thing suit me very well? Ohhhhh chentaaaa…..

I used to like their previous collection too, the Jade and Sienna in particular. It is no longer available at their official website but, I think I can still get them from Ebay at a fraction of cost! Yg penting jgn sampai RM500 la. Berak keras nk bayar.

Ok, I need to continue working, but before that here goes few more creation from my sister (Riqzmie Creation). This set of jewelries has been sold already (bummer uh? Hehe),but you can always place an order for the similar piece and we have no problem to reproduce it for you. So, enjoy the picture, the details will come later. Price range for each of the jewelries is about RM60-RM90 which is about USD30.

Jewelry (Jewellery) Lesson 1: Basic Tools

I seldom update my blog on weekend. But today is bit different. I felt so bored and I think that maybe by writing something here might help me to kill the mundane feeling.

Welllll, hmmm I have been making handmade wire jewelry (jewellery) for about a year already. There’s still a lot of things that I need to learn to ace my skills. I am not that good yet but since I think that I am at a better position now to teach something about how to make handmade wire jewelry, I would like to share some basic knowledge on my blog on how to make handmade jewelry from time to time.

For now, it is best to start with the tools first. I don’t have many tools. I just own a handfull of basic tools. The best tool that you could have is your own FINGERS! The key tools besides your fingers is set of pliers and good cutters. There are many type of pliers but you will only need few of them to make a beautiful handcrafted jewelry. Each one of the pliers having a different application, hence that most wire artist will be proud ownders of an impressive range. I do only have 2 sets of pliers, both are the same only the size is different. I got medium and mini size pliers.

Here goes the basic pliers;
Flat nose – Broad, flat jaws used for gripping and holding wire and creating angular bends. Also great for opening and closing jump rings.

Round nose – Smooth, round jaws used for making loops and round bends in wire.

Chain nose – Pointed flat nose pliers, used for gripping and tucking in wire ends, and getting into tight places.

Bent chain nose – Chain nose pliers with a 45 degree bend for getting into tight places. Can also be used for picking up small parts, and opening and closing jump rings.

Cutters – I am using 3 types of wire cutters. Side cutters, flush cutters & cable cutters. The latter one is actually is not designed for jewelry tool for but I use it when I want to cut thick wires without damaging my cutter. The side and flush cutters main purpose is to cut wire, however flush cutter capable to cut wire without leaving burrs that could snag on clothing and scratch the skin. I am eyeing a good flush cutter from Wubbers. Am thinking of getting it one of these days, at the moment am using one from beadwire brand.

I source my pliers locally and internationally. You can get the pliers (but not in a full range) at the local hardware shop too. Some shop sell it at a very low price but becareful I also has found several shopa that sell the pliers triple it’s original price. Those who interested to buy the pliers, I can always help. Just shoot me an email ok at mrsimran[a]mrmrsimran[dot]com. The brand is vary and not the wubbers featured here ok.

I don’t sell tools, but I know someone who does :)

Till next lesson of making jewelry. Tah Tah.

High Heels vs Flip Flop

Did someone manage to get the free handbag from handbag planet? Hmmm, I visited the website yesterday, but hmmm….it’s rather strange as I can’t see any announcement or news about the free handbag. Perhaps I overlooked, but am starting to second guessing their integrity. I just hope that I was wrong.

*Update. You can check the winner of the handbag contest here http://www.handbagplanet.com/contest-winners.html The info is courtesy of Naya.

Weekend is coming. I got another weekend project and hope I could get it done this weekend. Itu pon kalau saya tidak keluar berpoye-poye atau virus pemalas menyerang. I plan to make a dragonfly bracelet for Suhaina Fitri, so wish me luck! Neway to adik manis Suhaina, kakak dah beli the chain tu silver chain ala-ala tiffany. The price ehemm…tkleh la nk compare dgn chain biasa kan. But the advantage of using silver 925, it can be clean once the color starts to tarnish. For copper or brass chain there’s no way you can clean them. So, I would say it is indeed a good investment to buy a silver chain.

But you can always buy the normal chain if you not keen to buy the silver ones ok. Choice is yours, but I highly recommend using the silver ones. Most of my recent creations, I used silver 925, I think I want to start discontinue using brass or copper findings and chain as it’s beauty won’t last long.

My husband is getting better. Now, he is more to human than a Robocop. Thank god, I think I should test how well he is by dragging him to my favorite mall tomorrow. Heeee. Mana lagi One Utama laaa. I always love One Utama compare to other mall. Besides it’s location that really near to my house which is about 5-10 minutes away only, OU also seems to have everything that I need under one roof. KLCC pon I suke la jugak kan, tapi pergi KLCC tk boleh pakai selipar la. Nnt pasti akan di pandang senget.

Look….walaupon saya ada kasut Celine yg berharga 2k (hahahaha…kalau korang percaya ni tatau la kan), saya tetap setia dengan selipar busuk saya. One Utama is like a family mall where flip flop and your seasoned sandal are alwayssss welcome. I am kinda of person that loves to be myself. I know I will not look as if I am a million buck lady shall I wear slippers or my husband’s t-shirt. But heck! Like I care?

I treat OU like one of mamak shop nearby my house. And the best part is auntie-auntie yg jual beads and gift box dekat OU think that I’m 10 years younger than my age now. How fabulous is that? Haha. Lagi-lagi cakap dekat org mcm haku yg kuat perasan ni kan, lagi naik minyak la. Hoho.

Auntie tu kata….

adik tk sekolah ker esok?

I was like….omigosh do I look that young? Hahaha sukeeeeeeeeeee makkkkkkkkk.

Tu la kalau nk nampak muda pakai la selipar pergi mall. Hehe. Petua bernas dari Mrs Imran. But neway no offence to those who wears stilettos or nice shoes to the mall. This is all about my preferences only, I do many times wear high heels to the mall too. Cuma I feel that pakai high heels ni melambatkan pergerakkan I di mall yg seharusnya kene pantas! lagi-lagi time sales. Hehe.
